GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR EXAMS & CATEGORIES

  1. Qualification Exams, Final Round Exams and Best of the Best Global Round Exams will all be held online.
  2. A separate payment is required for each category and exam chosen in the Qualification Round (Coding category - 35 €, other categories - 20 €).
  3. Participants can take the Qualification Exams on any scheduled date and in any combination of categories.
  4. Exam dates and times should be checked prior to category selection and payment.
  5. No paid exam can be canceled or refunded.
  6. It is not possible to change the exam category once payment has been completed. However, the exam dates for the same category can be changed.
  7. Students who are unable to take the exam for any reason will not be offered an alternative or make-up exam. There will be no refund for the missed exam.
  8. A Zoom connection and an active camera are required during the exams.
  9. Exam Languages for the Qualification and Final Round Exams: English, Spanish, French, Russian, Azerbaijani, Turkish.
  10. Exam Language for the Best of the Best Global Round Exams: English.
  11. The exams will be conducted through the STEM Student Panel. No additional exam links will be sent via email. 

A) Qualification Round Exams of the International STEM Olympiad:

  1. The Olympiad is open to all students in the grades stated below:
    Coding Category > Grades 3-12
    Math Category > Grades 1-12
    Science Category > Grades 1-12
    Technology & Engineering Category > Grades 6-11
    AI Challenge Category > 6-11
    ART-Ad Film Category > 6-11
  2. There is no age restriction. Students must register according to their current grades, not the school year in which they are enrolled. Click the link below to view the comparison table of education year and grade level by country.

  3. Qualification exams will be held ONLINE.
  4. A Zoom connection is required during the exam. The camera must be turned on and the student ID must be used as the display name.
  5. The qualification exams will be held on 2 alternative (optional) dates to ensure a high level of participation. Schools and students have the option to select one or both dates that best suit their schedule for participating in the Olympiad.
  6. A student may take the exams once on their preferred date or twice on both days for each of the 4 categories. This means a student can take the exam up to 8 times across all categories on 2 different exam dates. (Each exam requires a separate payment.)
  7. The Qualification Round Exams are available in the following languages: English, Spanish, French, Russian, Turkish and Azerbaijani.
  8. The participation fee for the Coding category is 35 €, while the participation fee for the Math, Science, AI Challenge, Technology & Engineering categories is 20 € per exam. The application cannot be canceled and there will be no refund after the payment is done. Students who qualify for the Final Round or the Best of the Best Round are exempt from any fees.
  9. If qualified, a student can continue to compete in all 4 categories in the Final Round. However, a student who qualifies for the Best of Best Global Round can continue in only 1 of these categories.
  10. Qualification exams will be open for 24 hours on the specified exam dates. Students can take exams from the categories of their choice at any time during this period.
  11. Qualification Exam Dates: Students may take the exams either once on their preferred date or twice across both days for each of the 4 categories.
    For Coding Category > 30 November 2024 or 08 February 2025
    For Math, Science and Technology & Engineering Categories > 01 December 2024 or 09 February 2025
    For AI Challenge and ART-Ad Film Categories > 14 December 2024
  12. All participants will receive a digital Certificate of Participation in the Qualification Round Exams of the International STEM Olympiad.
  13. The AI Challenge and ART-Ad Film Categories will feature a one-round competition.
  14. Students who receive the minimum required points according to the table below will be eligible to compete in the Final Round. Students in the Coding Category are required to complete at least 10 challenges to qualify for the Final Round.  

B) Final Round Exams of the STEM Olympiad:

  1. The Final Round Exams of the International STEM Olympiad will also be held ONLINE.
  2. Participation in the Final Round Exams is free of charge.
  3. Zoom connection is required during the exam. The camera must be turned on and the student ID must be used as the display name. Students in the top 10% who cannot be identified by their camera image and ID will not be able to advance to the Best of the Best Global Round.
  4. Students may take the Final Exams in the same language in which they took the Qualification Round Exams. (English, Spanish, French, Russian, Turkish, or Azerbaijani)
  5. All students who participate in the Final Round Exams of the International STEM Olympiad will receive a digital certificate of participation. 

FINAL EXAM RESULTS AND EVALUATION

For Math and Science Categories

  1. The top 3 students in each grade will be awarded a solid GOLD Medal and a hard copy Certificate of Achievement.
  2. The top 15% of the participants in the Final Round will be awarded a Digital Gold Medal Certificate and will be eligible to take the Best of the Bests (BOB) Global Round Exams.
  3. Distribution Rates of Digital Medals and Digital Achievement Certificates for Each Grade and Category:
    - The top 15% of the participants will receive a Digital Gold Medal Certificate and a Digital Achievement Certificate.
    - The next 15-35% of the participants will receive a Digital Silver Medal Certificate and a Digital Achievement Certificate.
    - The next 35-60% of the participants will receive a Digital Bronze Medal Certificate and a Digital Achievement Certificate.
    - The next 60-80% of the participants will receive a Digital Honorable Medal Certificate and a Digital Achievement Certificate.
    - The last 80-100% of the participants will receive Digital Participation Certificates only.

For Coding Category 

  1. The top 3 students in each grade will be awarded a solid GOLD Medal and a hard copy Certificate of Achievement.
  2. Distribution Rates for Digital Medals and Digital Achievement Certificates by Grade and Category:
    - The top 15% of the participants will receive a Digital Gold Medal Certificate and a Digital Achievement Certificate.
    - The next 15-35% of the participants will receive a Digital Silver Medal Certificate and a Digital Achievement Certificate.
    - The next 35-60% of the participants will receive a Digital Bronze Medal Certificate and a Digital Achievement Certificate.
    - The next 60-80% of the participants will receive a Digital Honorable Medal Certificate and a Digital Achievement Certificate.
    - The last 80-100% of the participants will receive Digital Participation Certificates only.

For Technology & Engineering, AI Challenge and ART-Ad Film Categories

  1. The top 3 participants in each group (Group 1 > Grades 6-7-8, Group 2 > Grades 9-10-11) will be awarded a solid GOLD Medal and a hard copy Certificate of Achievement.
  2. Distribution Rates for Digital Medals and Digital Achievement Certificates by Group and Category:
    - The top 15% of the participants will receive a Digital Gold Medal Certificate and a Digital Achievement Certificate.
    - The next 15-35% of the participants will receive a Digital Silver Medal Certificate and a Digital Achievement Certificate.
    - The next 35-60% of the participants will receive a Digital Bronze Medal Certificate and a Digital Achievement Certificate.
    - The next 60-80% of the participants will receive a Digital Honorable Medal Certificate and a Digital Achievement Certificate.
    - The last 80-100% of the participants will receive Digital Participation Certificates only.

C) Best of the Bests Global Round Exams of the STEM Olympiad

  1. The top 15% of the participants in the Math and Science categories in Grades 6-12 in the Final Round will be eligible to take the Best of the Bests (BOB) Global Round Exams.
  2. The BOB Global Round Exams in the Coding, Technology & Engineering, AI Challenge and ART-Ad Film categories is not available.
  3. Students who qualify for the BOB Global Round in both (Math and Science) categories may participate in only one of these categories.
  4. THE BOB GLOBAL ROUND EXAMS ARE ONLY AVAILABLE IN ENGLISH.
  5. Students who qualify for the BOB Best Global Round must register for the exam. Students who do not register within the specified timeframe will be unable to take the exam and will forfeit any claims, even if they qualify.
  6. The BOB Global Round Exams are free of charge. No additional payment is required.
  7. The BOB Global Round Exams will be held ONLINE.
  8. Two zoom cameras connections are required during the exams. Both of the cameras must be turned on during the exam and student ID must be used as the display name. Technical requirements in this regard will be announced later.
  9. If a participant among the top 3 does not meet the requirement of having two cameras on during the exam or if their ID numbers cannot be identified, their ranking will be passed on to the next highest-ranked student.
  10. Exams will take place in limited-time sessions, which may be scheduled in the morning, afternoon, or evening depending on the country. The exam times for the BOB Global Round will be announced after the Final Round Exams.
  11. The top-ranking students in the Best of the Bests (BOB) Global Round Exams will be awarded the following hard copy medals and certificates:
    > 1st Place - BOB Original GOLD Medal + Hard Copy Certificate
    > 2nd Place - BOB Original GOLD Medal + Hard Copy Certificate
    > 3rd Place - BOB Original GOLD Medal + Hard Copy Certificate
    > The rest of participants will receive a BOB Digital PARTICIPATION Certificate.
